If I could give you one single piece of advice on eating healthy, it'd be to meal prep.
It is SO important!
How often do you open your fridge when you're hungry and grab whatever is available?
What's normally available if you don't meal prep? Crap food, right? Something you can heat up in the toaster oven and within 15 minutes, you'll have some fried, processed, fat ridden food that you can put into your stomach to sit and deteriorate your energy.
Now imagine opening your fridge with freshly prepped HEALTHY foods within arms reach? Baked chicken, cut up vegetables, cut up fruits, etc. Foods that provide you with ENERGY!
What do you think you're going to reach for then?
I can guarantee it won't be the food that's unhealthy!
This is my fridge after meal prep.
This is what sets me up for success during the week.
Want yours to look like this? Follow this simple guide to meal prep:
1. Do a vinegar rinse on all of your fruits, vegetables and potatoes.
2. Chop up all fruits and vegetables and keep them OUT of the drawers!
3. Cook 1-2 proteins and have them readily accessible.
4. Cook 1-2 starches and have them readily accessible.
5. Make a salad dressing for the week and store it in a mason jar.
6. Freeze some fruit for smoothies/shakes/banana "ice cream."
7. If you have a sweet tooth, make some form of a healthy dessert!
You want to have everything that's prepped out of the drawers because you're more likely to grab something that you immediately see. That being said, I have uncut vegetables in the drawers and some fruits I don't cut up simply because I prefer to eat them whole (i.e. apples, kiwi, oranges.)
If you want to make a healthy change in your life, you just have to do a little extra work to keep yourself on track. Meal prep only takes 2-3 hours out of one day per week. I'm sure we can all agree that a few hours are worth the benefits that meal prep gives us!
If you have any questions on anything I went over in the video or in the text, please let me know! I'd be happy to clarify and to help you through it!
