I think it's safe to say that the thing everyone loves most about chips is the crunch - that satisfying crunching noise and sound while you zone out munching and doing whatever else it is that you're doing. I also think it's safe to say that we feel absolutely gross once we realize that we've been doing it for an absurd amount of time and that the bag is gone, or close to it.
Well my lovely people, I have a solution for you. Baked chick peas! Yes, I know, this doesn't sound nearly as satisfying, BUT THEY ARE! Even my incredibly picky, anti-healthy-food husband enjoys these! They're great alone, on salads, or whatever other way you'd think you'd enjoy them! And the best part? Even if you ate the entire batch, you wouldn't have ruined your eating for the day! Oh, and these are packed with protein!!
-1 can chick peas (15oz)
-1 tbsp olive oil
-1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
(I used paprika because I ran out!)
-1/2 tsp chili powder
-1/4 tsp cumin
-1/8 tsp sea salt
**I honestly never measure, I just eye it!
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Rinse chick peas.
Dry off in between 2 paper towels.
Add chick peas, olive oil and spices into a mixing bowl.
Mix until all are coated.
Place chick peas on a baking sheet in a single layer.
Bake for 30 minutes.
Remove from oven and move around.
Bake for another 15-30 minutes depending on how much you want them to crunch.
The outside should be crispy, the inside almost hollow.
Let cool and enjoy!
Like I said, these are an awesome alternative to chips,
and it's the perfect time of year to make them because of football!
